Long-distance sailing beckons, promising discovery of unique destinations and active participation in ship maintenance. You seek cultural immersion and camaraderie with like-minded individuals aboard.
You thrive in social settings, cherishing evenings filled with board games, daytime excursions, and conviviality over a glass or two when anchored.
Adaptability is your forte; you understand that plans may change due to weather conditions or onboard maintenance. While prior sailing experience isn’t mandatory, you eagerly embrace learning and contributing positively.
You maintain a positive outlook even amidst deviations from plans. You recognize that the challenges and joys of sea life foster a unique camaraderie among crew members.
Prior sailing experience isn’t required, but a willingness to learn is essential. As a crew member, you’ll take turns at the helm, day and night, and be prepared to assume responsibility and adapt your sleep schedule for longer stretches. Training will be provided, and the skipper will offer guidance as needed.
Expedition Drenched offers 8 available spots onboard each vessel. Crew members contribute $90 USD per person per day, covering accommodation, bedding, three daily vegetarian meals, equipment access, maintenance costs, diesel for the vessel, petrol for the tenders, and other fees like harbor/marina fees and cruising permit fees.
Activities include exploring ashore, snorkeling, freediving, scuba diving (with potential charges for tank refills/equipment), kayaking, wakeboarding, and beach activities.
In addition to the crew contribution, budget for personal expenses such as land activities, internet access, visa fees, snacks, soft drinks, and alcohol. Travel to and from ports is your responsibility, and flexible flight booking is advisable.
To reserve a spot, pay a deposit equivalent to 14 days’ crew contribution per person ($1,260 USD). The deposit is refundable with at least a month’s notice to allow for spot filling.
Active engagement aboard Expedition Drenched involves shared ship tasks, household duties, and repairs. Maintaining order and cleanliness is crucial, fostering a harmonious sailing community through open communication.
Safety is paramount, with emergency procedures, life vests, life rafts, fire extinguishers, and medical supplies provided. Independent travel insurance is mandatory for all crew members.
Shared equipment includes watersports gear, beach games, kayaks, and scuba diving gear (with associated fees). Additional personal equipment must be agreed upon in advance.
